Happy Easter Meester!

However you celebrate, Easter is a fantastic time to let out my inner New Englander! I just love the structured dressed, the pleats, the color, the high necks...it's all so classy. Here in the Midwest there are few opportunities to wear such dresses (barn parties don't exactly lend themselves to heels and a dry clean only dress), so I had to jump on the chance as soon as I found it! Definitely my new obsession for spring. I've been eyeing up some Lilly Pulitzer dresses, despite my lack of funds...

Hot Pink Bow Dress- Lauren Conrad for Kohl's
Purple Suede Heels- Vince Camuto, thrifted
Chain Necklace- Forever21
Leopard Cardigan- Apt9, Kohl's

Originally I planned to wear my navy blazer with this dress, but it's a boyfriend style and once I got home to try it on I realized it's too long for this dress :( A leopard cardigan fit quite nicely over it, however, and added a bit of print! This outfit isn't my usual style, but spring is all about freshness and warmth, and a new girly wave in my wardrobe seemed to just ease it's way in without me even noticing! Don't worry, my usual quirky style isn't buried too deep.

Skater Skirt Part 3: Start Acting Like A Lady

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for a few days, but my life has been busier than it's been in a long time (that's probably sad, but we're not here to talk about my lack of social life, ok!?). It was my boyfriend and mine's 2-year anniversary over the weekend so I went up to visit him, and I posted a couple pictures to Instagram of that if you're interested in seeing them. My link is in the side bar! I also got a new piercing, and I'm posting a picture of that later today.

Now that I'm done rambling about my life, you're probably like saying "get to the point!", so without further a-do I'll just post my pictures and spare you any more details of my oh-so-exciting life.

Sugar and Spice

 Top: Goodwill Outlet, Ralph Lauren
Skirt: Goodwill, unbranded
Shoes: Gift, Qupid
Necklace: Romwe
Earrings: Claire's
Lipstick: Snob, MAC

Honestly, I don't have much to say today. I went to the Taylor Swift concert last night and I still haven't gained complete feeling in my toes and I sound like a chronic smoker with half a lung. I think it's safe to say it was a fun night. I wanted to go ahead and post this outfit today, though, because I also posted the video lookbook version of the skater skirt outfits I put together! You can get to that by clicking the Youtube button over to the right, or by clicking here. Happy watching :)

FREAK OUT

If you haven't seen everyone freaking out about the scheduled disappearance of Google Reader then you're either a) not a blogger or b) live under a rock. I'm not entirely sure I believe all this uproar (why would Google get rid of a feature so many people use?), but in case it really does come true, I'm here to tell you- all is not lost!
You can still follow my blog and every other blog that you regularly read on Bloglovin'. It's essenitally the same thing, and I actually prefer it. It's a cleaner, more organized format, very no-fuss. So below I've put my little Bloglovin' link and you can always find that link in my right side bar.

Follow on Bloglovin

And in honor of the title, I've linked the classic tune for you to listen to while you're happy as a clam clicking away and following all your favorite blogs.

Happy following!

Skater Skirt Lookbook: What You Did In The Dark

Finally an outfit post! I haven't made one since...January 17th. If I have to look back to actually know the last time I made one, it's been too long. Thankfully I have a couple more for you photographed already ^_^ I made a "How I Style" video for my YouTube channel and I thought it a shame not to go ahead and photograph each of the outfits!

Helvetica Letting "Bb" t-shirt: American Apparel - *clearance* $5
Flannel button up: Thrifted - $5
Skater skirt: Goodwill - $2
Chain necklace: Thrifted - $4.99
Steve Madden "Wiicked" wedges: eBay - $60
Rimmel lipstick "Bordeaux" - $5.99

This outfit is much edgier than I usually wear, and I have to say I love it! The black cherry vampy lip combined with the monochrome and the plaid all remind me of an updated 90's grunge look.

I've been obsessed with this skirt ever since I found it at Goodwill for half price of it's already super cheap $3.99. It's a really strange looking material. In certain lights it looks almost leather or coated, but then other times it just looks matte and cotton-y. I have no idea why, but I don't really care. It's perfect.

Videos Update!

I have put up two videos since I last made a post about them, but unfortunately they aren't exactly fashion or beauty related. My life has been so hectic that it'd been pretty hard to find time to film, but thankfully I had some funny bits floating around that I could piece together into a bloopers reel.

Just today, I posted a vlogday video! A few days ago I had a great day ice skating and adventuring around the city with a group of friends, and I brought my camera along to let you all in on what was happening! Let me know if you like or dislike these kinds of videos since this is the first one I've done. I enjoyed making it, so hopefully you all enjoy watching it!

If you all are still interested, I have plans to film a February Favorites video and blog post, even though it's already the second week of March, haha. Hopefully that will be up soon!

Review: L'oreal Colour Riche Caresse Stick

If lip products aren't you're thing, I'm apologizing for all the lip product related posts lately, but they've become my obsession! I can't get enough of them! All the colors, types, finishes, brands...there are just so many things to try! And recently I decided to try to L'oreal's new Colour Riche Caresse Stick.

Top Swatch: 1 swipe
Bottom Swatch: 4 swipes

I'm definitely going to be going back and getting more colors. I'm in love. Most of my lipsticks are very opaque and 'full coverage', and I had found myself wishing I had something more sheer and subtle. These filled that ticket perfectly. The first color in my swatches is the 176 "Sunset Angora". Its a really beautiful coral orange color, but not super bright or obvious like a lipstick or stain would be. It's just a pretty color to glide on when you're going for a simpler looker.
The second color is 170 "Cotton Pink" and I haven't worn it much, but it really reminds me of my "Snob" lipstick by MAC, but much more sheer. It's going to be great to wear over top of that because Snob is more of a satin/matte finish, and this has a subtle sheen.

The very best part of these is their mouiturizing factor. It's just like wearing a soft feel chapstick. I don't have to worry about these colors sticking to any dry parts of my lips or peeling or anything gross like that. They could be called a tinted lip balm, but they're a little more pigmented than that. The stay power isn't anything special, and I'd definitely advise carrying it around to reapply.

The packaging gets a solid 8/10. It looks pretty high end because of the super shiny gold packaging and the shape, but they do feel quite plasticy. It is a drugstore product, though, so that's not a huge deal. Also, the stick doesn't turn down all the way so until I use them down a bit I'm going to worry about nicking the edge of the cap on the product (like I've already done on Cotton Pink). As a whole, though, this packaging really impressed me compared to most other drugstore lip products, which I would normally score around a 4 or 5.

Overall score: 9/10, would definitely repurchase

Mary Kay Nourishine Plus Lipgloss and Lipstick

Last Monday, my friend Becky and I attended a Mary Kay event that someone we knew was part of. Before you get suspicious and think I'm going to turn into a lady driving a pink Cadillac and wearing all Mary Kay, have no fear. That's not in danger of happening, but we did think we'd go just to check it out. Plus, we got a free lip gloss just for going!

Please ignore the weird fluff of hair sticking out from the side haha

Who doesn't love a chocolate fountain!?

In addition to the free lip gloss AND chocolate fountain, I won an attendance prize! I didn't know what I'd be getting since I had to just randomly pick, and what I got was this lipstick next to the gloss. I was so pumped about actually winning something, but when I opened it up, my excitement level dropped a bit. Everyone loves free stuff, but the second I saw the color, I was immediately put off. It's slightly darker than what is reflected in the picture of the tube, and there are little gold glitters that give almost a metallic effect. Immediately, a giant sign in my head started flashing "GRANDMA GRANDMA GRANDMA".

You all know what I'm talking about: the ladies with the dyed red or blue-purple-grey hair that always have on a weird shade of orange-red metallic lipstick. Nevertheless, I forged ahead and tried it a couple days later to be pleasantly surprised. My first thought was that the formula was fantastic. Silky without feeling slippery, and solid without feeling cakey. The real test was looking in the mirror, however.

While I can't say I love it like I love the lip gloss (which I'll get to in a minute), I definitely don't hate it. The color is a bit more...mature than I'm used to, but it didn't go on metallic like in the tube, and you couldn't even see the glitters. Overall, it's something I'll have to challenge myself to wear, but that's probably a good thing to push myself out of my comfort zone.

The next attendance gift wast this lip gloss and holy sweet mother of Jesus, I am re-in-love with lip gloss. You know that 6th grade feeling when you really start to get into lip gloss and you carry it everywhere and reapply like 10x a day? That's what I want to do with this. The formula is soft and smooth, but that's not even the best part; IT'S NOT STICKY AT ALL. Not even a little bit. It's vibrant, shiny, and though I didn't wear it for long before I got home, it didn't seem to move around or smudge off too much. I'm super excited to try and get the pink version Becky was given.

Overall, I was very happy to find that it wasn't all makeup for the ladies about 40 years older than myself, and I'd try more of their lip products in a second! Have any of you tried any, despite the stereotype? Let me know!

Disclaimer: This post wasn't sponsored by Mary Kay at all. I really did just go to an event and happen to walk away with two products as a happy coincidence.

Let Me Just Tell Ya...

Ever since I started blogging, I've struggled with finding "the space". If you read blogs or watch videos,  you know what I'm talking about. It's the space where the writer or video-er (?) sets up their blog posts, their products, or films. Usually it's a bright, fresh, light colored space. It sometimes has lights or little decorations, and when filming there is usually a candle flickering behind them.

This is what I'm missing.

I'm not whining or complaining, because I love where I live (even if it's with my mom still and I'm anxious to move out in the fall), but this is getting in my way. I feel like if I just had the right kind of space, everything would take off from there. I could take more outfit photos (which I looked back on the other day and realized I haven't done an outfit post since mid-January..yikes!). I'd feel more confident about taking photos for reviews. I'd be able to film videos whenever I wanted because that space would be THERE.

So my goal for the fall when I transfer schools is to make my dorm room a "blog friendly" space. I'll keep it tidy, bright, and classic: a perfect backdrop.

Sammi from BeautyCrush has the most lust worthy space ever. Even though it's just her bedroom, it always looks so chic. White, clean, simple, but still relatable. Somehow she just makes it work! *jealous*

I know everyone has that ONE THING that they feel if they had it, everything would be easier. Sometimes it's a camera, a space, or a friend to help set things up. What's your one thing you feel like you need to start off by saying 'let me just tell ya' and it brings out your inner sassy-pants?

Hairy Wishes

(Gross title, I know, but I couldn't think of anything clever!)

There are all kinds of combinations I'd love to do with these options. White blonde is the first, since I'd love to wear it long OR as a pixie cut. Plus, then I'd be able to dip dye it lavender like on the far left! But if I was avoiding the dye (since I'm currently a hair dying virgin) I'd love to grow my hair as long as the girl on the far right. Mermaid hair would be a dream! And with those bold bangs, *swoon*. Gorgeous.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I want to chop it all off! Pixie cuts are so bold and sexy and daring! I was so in love with Emma Watson when she took the plunge, and after Miley Cyrus cut her's off (though it took some getting used to), I've decided I totally love her attitude about not caring what anyone else thinks. With short hair you have nothing to hide behind, and can completely flaunt your style, face shape, and makeup.

There are many a thing I would love to be able to do to my hair. Unfortunately, because of it's extreme curl and fairly dark color, I feel slightly limited, but a girl can dream right?
