25 Days of Outfits: Christmas Eve

Sweater- H&M
Jeans- JBrand
Watch- Express
Shoes- Thrifted

I vastly overestimated my abilities to work all week and then post on this blog. It's exhausting! Especially when you work in a doctors office where you're required to wear a plain white shirt and khakis with a *shudder* lab jacket. My soul has been slowly dwindling down to nothing...

However, it is now Christmas Eve! The air is cold, thankfully there is no snow on the ground, and the festivities will begin. Hope you and your's are celebrating in your favorite way :) happy holidays!

25 Days of Outfits: Day 14

Coat- Vintage
Sweater- Chaps
Leggings- American Apparel
Socks- Kohl's
Boots- Payless
Scarf- H&M

This weekend my mom planned a trip for our family to go on a little Christmas family adventure. Little did we know that it would be about 10 degrees, windy, and snowing the entire time! Thankfully I had her massive coat that's older than I am. I felt like a marshmallow puff, but at least it was warm! Also, I've been obsessed with french braiding my hair when it's straight the last few times I've straightened it. I'm thinking of trying out a couple of different "pinterest" braids- suggestions?

25 Days of Outfits: Day 12

Coat- Burlington Coat Factory
Hat- ASOS
Boots- Wanted
Necklaces- Nordstrom/HauteLook
Watch- Express

I am officially spoiled. Yesterday, Elana introduced me to her friend Mary who works with her on the school newspaper. She also happens to be a fantastic photographer. Never again will I be content to have blog pictures taken by just any old person now, and certainly not with my crappy tripod in my room. Looks like I'm going to have to get creative (or bribe Mary with coffee more often).

Also, these are the last pictures you'll see at school for a while because I am officially back home for the next month. I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing with myself other than working, because I wasn't all that thrilled to be coming back for some reason..cross your fingers it's not an ugly premonition.

25 Days of Outfits: Day 10 & 11

 Denim Shirt- Ralph Lauren
Dog Sweater- Urban Outfitters
Riding Pants- American Apparel
Houndstooth Boots- DSW
Necklace- Thrifted

It. Is. Finished! And with that, my first semester at Western is over. The last two days were absolutely crazy (hence the no posts) but now the mayhem is over and I can finally breath a little easier (although not completely because I do have a project in the works that I'll share sometime next week). The semester ending means that I'll have to say goodbye to the friends I've made this semester, particularly my blogging friends I found on campus. Who's going to take my outfit pictures now?! Seems like I'm going to have to recruit my sister once again.

Also, I'm going to have to find more sweaters because I'm totally digging this J.Crew layering I've got going on here. While none of this is even from J. Crew, I just feel so preppy and it's pretty refreshing, honestly. What do you think? Keep it up, or do I look too much like a soccer mom?

25 Days of Outfits: Day 9

Top- Old Navy
Jeans- Hollister
Boots- Baker's
Scarf- Gift

The more pictures I post on here without any makeup, the more sympathy I have for celebrities who have their makeup-less faces plastered all over the tabloids. Not that I'm a celebrity or that that many people read this, but still. It's a weird feeling.

Now on to the outfit! I must say that I drew a little bit of inspiration from Marion of Marionberry Style with this because a while back she posted about how she hates the over sized jerseys women wear for football games and how many more options there are to still look put together and support your team! I'm not huge into football, but Seth is a die-hard Chicago Bears fan and tonight we're all going to a sports bar to watch the game, pig out on the world's BEST chicken tortilla soup, and take a breather from the stress of finals. Who said sportswear can't look cute? ;)

ps- I dug these jeans out of my drawer after the massacre from Friday (read about it here) and there is a reason these were buried at the bottom. Since I've started working out, my butt has gotten a bit...rounder, and Hollister jeans definitely were not cut for girls with an ass. I've discovered that there really is a reason they're popular with pre-pubescent girls...other than they're more expensive than any 12 year old needs.

25 Days of Outfits: Day 8

In an effort to maintain the integrity and transparency of the 25 Days of Outfits, here I am in all my studying glory. A delightfully tacky t-shirt from a 21+ bar/restaurant near home, yoga pants (feel free to shudder, I do understand), and fluffy slipper socks. I haven't even worn shoes all day, that's how bum-y this day has been. Later tonight I might end up going over to the boy's house for some de-stress cooking, so I may-or-may-not manage to put some makeup on in my Mathematical Merchandising daze. At this point though, nothing is a guarantee.
To make it even more of a stay-inside day, it snowed a good 3 inches and continues to fall. While to some that might seem minimal, I must remind everyone that I was not built for the snow. I even wrote an entire article about the horrors and costly consequences of snow for the school newspaper. Yup, I'm that girl.

25 Days of Outfits: Day 7

Top- Gap
Vest- Thrifted
Jeans- Gift
Boots- Payless
Necklace and Bracelet- Thrifted

Here's the rule I've given myself for the 25 days: I can only wear something 3 times. Pants are a little different, but that means that you'll only be seeing this vest once more before Christmas. If you hate it- rejoice. If you love it- I apologize. I'm crying a little too.

25 Days of Outfits: Day 6

Sweater- Thrifted
Jeans- JBrand
Scarf- FashionBug
Boots- Old
Earrings- Gift

This was a very, very sad day. We must say goodbye to a pair of jeans that died way too young- in their prime even. They were brutally murdered by a rouge piece of metal on a set of stairs. They never stood a chance...

In reality, yesterday was a pretty rough day. It just seemed like one thing after the other and then at the end of it all, and when my jeans tore beyond re-pair the first thing I thought was "I'm a poor college kid- I'll never be able to replace these!" and just had a little mini-break down. Classic college kid pre-finals reaction.

On a completely unrelated note- do you ever just feel like trends threw up on you? I mean, I'm wearing an oversized sweater, boyfriend jeans, AND fringe. I think the key to really pulling it off is to make sure that none of it too overwhelming. Also, This background turned out quite nice I do believe, even though it was a whopping 15 degrees with a windchill of 0 when we took these pictures. Two cheers for the Midwest (and another two cheers for yet another fashion blogger complaining about the weather)!

Geez, I'm kind of all over the place today. Feel free to say "Hey Katie, you're being a complete spaz- tone it down a bit!" and I'll try to reign myself in next time.

Trend Alert- Geometric Cardigan

Top Left- Karmaloop
Top Right- Duffy Ny
Middle- BooHoo
Bottom Left- Urban Outfitters
Bottom Right- New Look

As temperatures continue to drop (the windchill was 0 today..perfect), all I can think about is snuggling up in a big giant sweater, drinking coffee, and continuing to procrastinate studying for my finals. So far, I've been quite successful in all three of those endeavors, and what better way to procrastinate than shopping online for a sweater to snuggle up in! I've been loving the aztec/geometric/tribal print cardigans as of late, and I'm thinking I need that one from Karmaloop..or maybe the Duffy NY one...or maybe all of them...

25 Days of Outfits: Day 5

Sweater- Express
Pants- Old Navy
Shoes- JCPenney
Necklace- Thrifted

You know that book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day"? Yeah, that was today. Not only was it 3 DEGREES when I had to go to class this morning, but I had to spend an extra 2 hours in my sewing lab to finish my project on time. I spilled coffee on the original black pants I had with this outfit (not leggings), and the lighting in my room wouldn't work out since it was so overcast so I had to resort to using a flash since I haven't plucked up the courage to go outside and use my tripod on campus yet. The night is winding down with a movie, avocado chicken, and cookies (not together, mind you) so hopefully things won't end on a bad note. Stay warm!

25 Days of Outfits: Day 4

Top- Express
Disco Pants- American Apparel
Shoes- Vans
Sweater- Charlotte Russe
Necklace- Thrifted

There isn't a ton to say about this outfit other than a) I feel like a crossover of Sporty Spice and Sabrina the Teenage Witch and b) please excuse my massive under eye circles. It is the last week before finals after all.

25 Days of Outfits: Day 3

Top- Kohl's
Skirt- Thrifted
Watch- Express
Necklaces- Nordstrom
Shoes- HauteLook

Every day I post these things on time I do a small victory dance and pat myself on the back. Posting in the middle of the day?! Well heck, that deserves a cookie.

I'm wearing this for a presentation later this afternoon. I do think I would have preferred it with heels, but all my black heels have a platform/aren't the right look/are a home...it's a struggle living in a dorm room. All last night I was hyping myself up about living in an apartment next year just because a) I'll have my own room/closet space and b) I'll have an oven to bake in. I can see the pounds piling on my hips now...

25 Days of Outfits: Day 2

Top- Express
Leggings- American Apparel
Boots- Wanted
Watch- Express
Bracelet- American Eagle

Remember those lazy day outfits I said you'd be seeing? Yeah, this is one of them. Two days in and I'm already showing the dark side! But really, there was nothing to get dressed up for. I had one class at 9 am and then the rest of the day was spent re-organizing my room post-Thanksgiving break and working on projects that are due this week. I bet not one of you can tell me that tights and a skirt are more comfortable for that than leggings and an oversized t-shirt.

I must admit that I also just wanted an excuse to wear my new watch. *drools* This beautiful rose gold watch was a birthday present (along with some gourmet coffee and my favorite candy) from my wonderful boyfriend. I think I'll keep him a little longer ;)

So now we're back on track! Day 3, here we come.

25 Days of Outfits: Day 1

Top- Express
Vest- The Limited
Boots- Payless
Necklace- Thrifted

Somehow I've already managed to mess up this "25 Days of Outfits" thing, haha. Classic. Essentially for every day up until Christmas I am going to post my outfit, regardless of what it is. Every day class outfits? Oh yes. Dolled up Christmas party dresses? You betcha! Sweaty workout clothes? Yup, you're gonna see them.

This serves 3 purposes really-
1. It challenges me to blog every day
2. It keeps me creative since I won't want to show the same items over and over
3. It's just plain fun to say "25 Days of Outfits"!
(Like the 25 Days of Christmas...get it? Oh boy, I'm so clever)

So feel free to take this idea and run with it if you'd like to do it on your blog. I know it's the 2nd of December, but I think I'll probably post twice today to keep things on track. This was my outfit from yesterday to have a simple lunch at my grandma's before taking the 3 hour drive back to school for the last two weeks of the semester. Whoo! I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving- I know I did, because in addition to it being Thanksgiving, I celebrated my 21st birthday on the 25th! I'm officially...adult *shudders*
