Pattern Mixin' and Country Livin'

I've been putting off posting this because, well, it's been a busy week, haha. Getting acclimated to this new town, new people, trying to make new friends..it gets exhausting! These photos seem so far away even though they were just three weeks ago..

Top- Forever21
Shorts- Thrifted
Necklace- Betsey Johnson
Shoes- JuJu

These pictures don't match the sizes of the rest of the blog and it's driving me insane! They weren't taken on my specific camera though, so I suppose I can't complain. I didn't come prepared! The day was spent out in the 'country' at my grandpa's house, and it was surprisingly peaceful. I didn't think being out in the fields with some horses and cloudless skies would appeal to me, but it was a nice break from being in the crowded suburbs and cities. A quick trip to the grocery store for some grilling food revealed that I'm not meant for this life permanently, though. I saw FAR too many sparkly butt jeans and angel wing t-shirts out in Missouri for my own tastes!

This was my first real attempt at pattern mixing, and looking at the pictures I think one of the prints needed to be a little larger. Maybe some thicker stripes with the small polka dots or some larger polka dots with the skinny stripes. I don't think it turned out too badly though. Do you have any trips for print mixing?

One for the money, two for the show

These shots were taken a couple weeks ago back when I still lived back "home"...that's right, I've made the big move! It was much busier and more stressful than I expected, but things have been going well. It's only been about 48 hours, so I don't want to speak too soon, but I think things will go well here :)

Top: Nordstrom
 Skirt: TJMax
Wallet: Banana Republic
Shoes: Thrifted
Watch: Vintage, Necklace: SheInside, Belt: Thrifted

I'm officially obsessed with this tank top. I wore in for move in day, lounging around, this day in the park, the first day I bought it...people probably think I don't own very many shirts...oops. It's perfect for pairing with a maxi skirt like I did for a day at the St. Louis Art Museum with Trinity.

These are likely to be the last pictures that are cohearant for a while. I still haven't quite figured out where I can take pictures while I'm here at school without people thinking I'm a weirdo...haha any suggestions?

30 Day Snap: Day 7

My life has essentially become one giant suitcase..or my life is in a suitcase..at this point my brain is too mushed up with stress and confusion to really tell. Wish me luck. Hopefully this week is over soon (although it's only Monday...)

Help me get into Inspired Magazine!

This is a slightly selfish post, I must admit, but what use is a blog is you can't share exciting life events! This happens to be a competition I'm enrolled in with Inspired Magazine to be featured for an entire month! The top two voted bloggers will be featured for a month, and the voting ends TOMORROW. Therefor, I'm calling on any of my faithful readers to please take just 30 seconds out of your days to do a couple clicks :)

To vote:

1- Click this link to "like" my picture in Inspired Magazine's album

2- Click this link to "like" the Inspired Magazine's Facebook page.

That's it! However, step 2 is VERY important as your vote will not count if you haven't liked the Facebook page as well. Best of luck to all entries and thank you to any of you who take your time to vote!

(Big thanks to my dad for making this KILLER banner!)

A Day in the Park

(The humidity was not kind to my hair...After spending 2 hours straightening my hair, it was pulled back into a ponytail after 20 mins -_-)

Me: Dress- JCPenney's, Watch- Vintage, Earrings- Betsey Johnson, Heels- Madden Girl
Trinity: Dress- JCPenney's, Rings- Forever21 and thrifted, Heels- Steve Madden

Before we both left for school, Trinity and I planned a day to get dolled up and head over to Forrest Park in St. Louis. While the humidity and weather didn't quite cooperate how we would have liked, it was still an absurd amount of fun to prance around in our heels and floral dresses.

30 Day Snap: Day 6

Yesterday I attended a concert in a cave. I mean, common, how often do you hear that?! It's was a fantastic time with great music and family before I leave for school. 5 days and counting...it's really starting to sink in. Let the nervous behaviors begin.

30 Day Snap: Day 5

Yesterday was marked by the last big shopping trip for all of my back-to-school items before I move. Both exciting and nerve-wracking!

30 Day Snap: Day 4

As the date draws nearer for me to leave for school, I've been making an effort to see all of my friends and enjoy the things in my hometown. However, tonight was just a relax-night where my best friend Becky came over and we binged on ramen noodles and Netflix- a college combo classic.

My Perfect Boyfriend Jeans...Finally!

I cannot express how ecstatic I am at having found these jeans. For months I have been on the search for a pair of boyfriend jeans I could add to my closet. I'm quite particular- not just any pair would do. They needed the right wash, distressing, length, and of course, the right fit. These are a pair I snagged from J Brand. I've never worn a pair of their jeans before, but I understand the high price tag now. It really is true that it's worth the extra money to buy a really great pair of jeans.

Jeans- Nordstrom
Top- Nordstrom
Necklace- SheInside
Bracelet- Etsy (Reese and Taylor)
Shoes- Thirfted

You'll have to excuse my lack of makeup and humidity hair. I wasn't about to let those thing stop me from taking pictures. It's ridiculous how excited I'm getting over these...oops! But I guess that's what fashion blogging is for anyway, hehe.

30 Day Snap: Day 3

I'm scrambling to get this up before the clock switches over to the next day, and I made it just in time. 6 minutes to spare.

A "Rocky Mountain Ice Cream" treat from the outdoor theater where we saw "West Side Story" tonight. The cone says it all..."Joy"

30 Day Snap: Day 2

It's only day 2 and I'm already cheating by using a photo I didn't take!

This was taken while getting ready for a floral photo shoot with one of my best friends, Trinity. Since we're both leaving for school soon, we made specific plans to do things together. Photos from the actual adventure will be coming soon!

30 Day Snap Challenge

It's been a tough summer. Lots of things didn't go as planned, things came up that I wasn't anticipating, and overall it's been a stressful two months that has tested my sanity and ability to cope. With school starting in less than two weeks, however, I thought it should start a routine- a slice or normalcy.

And so, the 30 Day Snap Challenge was born!

Every day for the next thirty days I will be posting a photo of my day. It might be something fashion related (or it might not). It might be professional grade with my big camera (or it might be on my iPhone). It's just going to be a snippet into my every day life and a way for me to practice capturing moments. It's not about stressing myself out to be "the perfect blogger". It's just...me.

I thought it would be appropriate to start off a challenge of keeping this real with a very real picture of myself. No makeup save for a quick slick of lipgloss, and the rain had pretty much ruined my straightened hair by this point. I invite you to do this 30 Day Snap challenge as well, and there is a link below to the original creator's post. Happy snapping!
