OOTD: Oh you fancy, huh

Top- Joie (via Wasteland)
Cardigan- Elana of Room334
Leggings- American Apparel
Ring/Necklace- Forever21
Sandals- BCBG

This blog post actually marks the appearance of TWO "new" products on the blog. Both the shoes and this top were purchased in L.A. during my spring break trip, and I just love them to pieces. The silk top makes me feel way fancier than I actually am (which is always a plus during finals week), and the sandals are perfect combination of sweet and practical for the summer. The only downside to the top is that silk wrinkles. Badly. And I also can't spill anything on it for fear of ruining it. So this might not have been the most practical purchase, but common! Just look at it! I'd have been a fool not to snag this baby. Especially since it was only

Also, this cardigan was borrowed from my blogging bestie (she's going to kill me for writing that) Elana. I've mentioned her before, but it's quite fun to have someone around who always understands your desire to obnoxiously take picture of things for instagram. Since our styles are pretty different, this is the first time we've swapped items this whole year, but I've fallen in love with this cardigan. There is just something about speckled grey sweaters that scream "cozy".

Elana is always making this cardigan look fantastic. She's basically the cardigan queen, so if you're into those (or even if you're not, because I adore her style and own maybe 3 cardigans max) make sure to check her out!

OOTD: Livin' the Casual Life

If you are looking at these photos thinking "Why are you showing us old pictures from the fall?", you would be mistaken. Although it looks quite like November here, it is indeed mid-April and snowing as I type this post. Gosh, the Midwest is lovely.

Top- H&M
Cardigan- H&M
Jeans- Old Navy DIY
Necklaces- Thrifted
Rings- Forever21/eBay
Shoes- TOMS
There are a couple of things to be said about this outfit.

1- If you watched my Youtube video (which you totally should because not only do you see FIVE outfits not posted here, but there's some rockin' music) you will notice that this is the same outfit as the very last one in the video. I felt pretty crappy about the quality of that filming the last day so I decided to just take some pictures of it as well.

2- Having said that, I'm not sure it was worth taking pictures of. It is also painfully obvious to me that my eyebrows need some work STAT.

This outfit is super casual, and although it does feature my newest favorite necklace layering combination, I can't say I'm very fond of it. The crop length is slightly awkward (hence the absence of standing photographs) and I was having a peculiarly blasé day. Nothing bad happened, but nothing very wonderful happened either. I'm going to blame it on the perpetually grey skies at the moment. We had one fleeting day of beautiful 75 degree weather, and I would give anything to have that back. Thankfully I did get out that day for some pictures and girl time (aka coffee and ranting), so those should be up later this week with a special surprise.

In life news, I started training for my new position as the Opinions section editor for my college newspaper! I think I'll even write a lifestyle post on it. I'm all about those lately, and I can't stop watching people's daily vlogs on Youtube and reading little life snippets in their blogs. Do you have any favorite vloggers/bloggers? What are some of your favorite things they post? Let me know in the comments!

The Calm Before the Storm

Shirt- Forever21
Cardigan- H&M
Jeans- American Eagle
Shoes- Thrifted
Bracelet- Etsy

These last few days before leaving for school have been an absolute whirlwind, but it's nothing compared to what it will be going back to school. Seth has been visiting me here at home, we've been going to restaurants, bars, malls, Skyzone (basically an entire warehouse lined with trampolines- it's just as awesome as it sounds), and generally having a fantastic time after spending Winter Break away from each other. Today, though, it is time to head on back to the good ol' middle of no-where for a new semester. There's quite a few things going on that I'm going to have to make sure to stay organized because in addition to 17 credit hours, I'm going to need to juggle writing newspaper articles, writing articles for an exciting project that I will announce later on, AND keeping this blog updated. Can you say "exhausting"?

I have a feeling this new cardigan that I picked up with a gift card is going to come in handy because it's lightweight and baggy enough to be the perfect throw on for late nights that require a little more coziness than the dorms offer. Plus, Elana is through the roof that I've finally joined her cardigan cult. These jeans are also new (and yes, purchased with a Christmas gift card), and I couldn't be more excited for them. For so long I've stared at my closet thinking "this would go great with a dark pair of skinny jeans". Finally the day has arrived.

2014 already has quite a bit in store for me, so here's to hoping I can handle it. This is what your 20s are all about, right?

500 Days of Summer

This weather is going to drive me into an insane asylum, I swear! One day it'll be freezing, the next I'll be regretfully pulling out the shorts again. I'm more than ready for the fall clothes that have been sitting in my closet for the last 10 months. Today it dipped pretty low though, so cross your fingers that this will be the last post featuring summer items for a while. (However, as soon as this is typed, I'm sure I'll be wishing for the heat of the sun again...there's no pleasing me really)

Shirt- Thrifted (Ann Taylor)
Cardigan- Thrifted (unknown)
Shorts- Thrifted (Calvin Klein)
Necklace- Hautelook
Shoes- Thrifted (unknown)

How gorgeous are these pictures? Once again, taken by my lovely friend Elana of Room 334. We had a spectacular little coffee date, talked about life, and generally enjoyed the last warm day of the year. Pretty soon we're going to have to start getting creative about our photo locations so we're not freezing to death...
