STYLE: Tough Girl

Jacket- Forever21 (similar) | Tshirt- PINK | Jeans- Hollister (old) | Boots- Lands' End (similar) | Flannel- American Eagle (old)

Somehow, I seem to have landed in a time warp where everything is a complete whirlwind, I have no idea what is going on, and suddenly a month has gone by and it seems like all I did was blink.

Seriously, people, that has been my past month.

While this blog has been sitting lonely and vacant, collecting cobwebs and floating around in the internet, I have been (somehow) surviving my last first month of school. Ever. I actually have no control over my life at this point it feels like, and while so many wonderful things are happening, it is also happening frighteningly fast.

I've taken up a job as the Opinions Editor at my school's newspaper (which you'll be extremely familiar with if you read Elana's blog, Room-334), taken on the (nearly) impossible task of resurecting the dying fashion club on campus, continued to write for CollegeFashionista, and still maintain some semblence of a social life through Seth and my friends.

Can you see why I've gone a little crazy?

So please forgive me that I haven't spent time on my creative outlets, because I haven't even truly had time to breathe, let alone take outfit picture and write a blog post about it. However, now that things are settling into more of a routine, I think I can start to dust off my keyboard and slowly start relearning how to write a blog post.

Because clearly I'm just typing anything that comes into my head at this point in hopes that it at least appears that I know what I'm doing.

OOTD: All Blogs Post the Same Stuff

(That "tie" is actually my lanyard, haha I'm not weird and just carry ties in my hand)

To say that this week has been stressful would be an understatement. Without boring you with all the details, a quick overview would include officially taking over my editor position, multiple projects being due, finals week quickly approaching, and dealing with more than a few things that I had thought would stay buried in my skeleton closet.

And when all of these things bubble up and take over all at once, the pressure to handle it all perfectly can be a bit overwhelming. As a first born child (and then later being thrust into the middle child spot) it's in my nature to be a perfectionist. Sometimes it feels like the world will end if you're not 110% what everyone expects from you- and sometimes most importantly what you expect from yourself.

So this time around I decided to include photos that would usually be considered "bloopers". Mess-ups. Short of perfect. However, in reality, there is nothing wrong with them. They're showing me being my goofy, loud, sometimes obnoxious self. A lot of the pictures I post on here are the "serious" photos. The ones that make me look all brooding and moody, but make for a good shot. But 80% of the time, that's just not how I am, and I'm letting these slightly more real pictures do the talking.

In a blogging world full of pressures to have the "perfect" picture (ie, all white walls, wooden flooring, solid monochrome furniture, and perfect minimalist yet beautiful decorations- bonus points for being able to fake natural lighting), sometimes it's nice to take a step back and realize that pictures (and people) don't have to fit a mold to be perfect.

ps- if anyone noticed that I didn't make an "Inspiration" or "Beauty" post this week, I apologize! The key to everything really is planning and it just slipped away from me this week. Don't worry, though, next week is already in the works :)

The Calm Before the Storm

Shirt- Forever21
Cardigan- H&M

These last few days before leaving for school have been an absolute whirlwind, but it's nothing compared to what it will be going back to school. Seth has been visiting me here at home, we've been going to restaurants, bars, malls, Skyzone (basically an entire warehouse lined with trampolines- it's just as awesome as it sounds), and generally having a fantastic time after spending Winter Break away from each other. Today, though, it is time to head on back to the good ol' middle of no-where for a new semester. There's quite a few things going on that I'm going to have to make sure to stay organized because in addition to 17 credit hours, I'm going to need to juggle writing newspaper articles, writing articles for an exciting project that I will announce later on, AND keeping this blog updated. Can you say "exhausting"?

I have a feeling this new cardigan that I picked up with a gift card is going to come in handy because it's lightweight and baggy enough to be the perfect throw on for late nights that require a little more coziness than the dorms offer. Plus, Elana is through the roof that I've finally joined her cardigan cult. These jeans are also new (and yes, purchased with a Christmas gift card), and I couldn't be more excited for them. For so long I've stared at my closet thinking "this would go great with a dark pair of skinny jeans". Finally the day has arrived.

2014 already has quite a bit in store for me, so here's to hoping I can handle it. This is what your 20s are all about, right?
