OOTD: Sophisticated Graphics

Tank- Nordstrom
Pants- H&M
Vest- Bill Blass
Heels- H&M

So this summer, CollegeFashionista assigned me to style MYSELF for my posts each week. I thought, "this is great! It's going to be a piece of cake considering I do that already!" Wrong. So wrong. Taking pictures by myself with my tripod is much more difficult than I anticipated. The focus is almost always off, the lighting is hard to set, and running back and forth to check the angles and set the timer just get annoying after two shots. I really should invest in a camera remote. Any suggestions?

On another note, this outfit was inspired by Burberry's s/s 2014 runway shows where they paired graphic t-shirts with dress pants. Fancy, huh? Well considering I really own very few graphic t-shirts (I had to dig through my closet to even find this one), I threw on a denim vest to dress it down even more. So what's the verdict- are we feeling it? I'm a fan, I think. I'm probably going to at least actually buy a shirt that doesn't look like it was attacked by wolverine after this.

OOTD: Click Your Heels

Sweater- H&M
Jeans- Hollister
Heels- H&M
Necklace- Thrifted

Did you know that the actual "ruby slippers" from the Wizard of Oz were supposed to be silver. They changed them to red to make more of a cinematic impact as being one of the first movies in color back in 1939. The transition from black and white to full color would have been "less impressive" had the shoes stayed their literally accurate silver.

Regardless of whether or not Dorothy ended up with red shoes, I still feel more than fabulous wearing these heels. I'm staring to see why Marion from Marionberry wore her silver heels with every outfit. THERE IS NOTHING THEY DON'T MATCH. Literally. Even if i wanted to wear something gold I feel like it would just be a super chic metal-mixing outfit. Unfortunately I took them home over the weekend to try to clear out as much as I could before the "big move out" at the end of the semester. Who knew I'd accumulated so much crap?

And while I do love a good silver heel, my most serious obsession of the moment has been black and white. What could be more classic? Courtney from As We Stumble Along has also created a black and white outfit for you to take a look at. Make sure to check it out :)

Styling March Madness: Round One

Howdy, friends and blog readers (although I hope to count you as a friend if you read my blog). If you didn't already know, I am currently an intern for College Fashionista where I write weekly style articles focusing on accessories. Every Friday you can see the lovely people around my campus, but for the next few weeks they are running a competition on their Facebook page starring those of us usually behind the camera!

Jacket- Forever21
Top- H&M
Jeans- Gap
Heels- H&M
Necklace and Sunglasses- Thrifted

I wore this outfit on the last day of my California trip before changing into more practical airport friendly clothes, but it seemed like a pretty good representation of my style for the contest. Minimal and clean yet up to date with a little girly edge.

So what I would love is a little help from my readers. If you could follow THIS link and like the photo, that counts as a vote! That's all you need to do! Feel free to friend request me if you happen to see my Facebook page, but just one extra vote could put me into the next round. YOU HAVE TO ACT FAST THOUGH BECAUSE THE 1ST ROUND ENDS TOMORROW (March 19) at 11:59 EST. So vote as soon as you see this! haha feel free to share it with you Facebook friends as well! Of course, only vote if you do like my outfit, but hopefully you do if you're following me? I'd like to think so at least. Thanks, friends (yes, I'm assuming we are all friends now).

xoxo, Katie
